(3.10C) Life Cycles
Supporting
Overview
The student is expected to investigate and compare how animals and plants undergo a series of orderly changes in their diverse life cycles such as tomato plants, frogs, and ladybugs.
-
Flowering Plants Life Cycles
Tomato plants are easy to grow and provide a good example of the flowering plant life cycle. More resources on plant life cycles can be found in this section.
-
Amphibian Life Cycles
The frog life cycle, as mentioned in the TEKS, is a typical example of amphibian development. Members of this group, which also includes salamanders and toads, spend the early part of their lives in water and their adult lives on land.
-
Insect Life Cycles
The ladybug, also known as the ladybird beetle, is mentioned specifically in the TEKS for grade three, so it is highlighted here. The life cycle of a ladybug is an example of complete insect metamorphosis, with four stages: egg, larva, pupa, adult.
