Overview
Students learn that organisms have basic needs that can be satisfied through interactions with living and nonliving things. By investigating the life cycle of animals, students develop an understanding of how structures and processes help them survive and complete their life cycles within their environments.

(1.9) Living Organisms
By exploring the relationships between organisms and their environments students learn to distinguish between living and nonliving things and understand interdependence among organisms.

(1.10) Plants and Animals
Students investigate organisms and their structure to understand how animals’ characteristics are related to its life. They also learn about animals’ life cycles and see how young animals resemble their parents.
