(1.6) Force, Motion and Energy
Overview
Forces and energy are present in everyday life. First grade students explore ideas related to common uses of light, heat and sound energy; predict how a magnet can be used to push or pull an object; and observe and record changes in the movement of an object.

(1.6A) Forms of Energy
Students will identify and discuss how different forms of energy such as light, heat, and sound are important to everyday life.

(1.6B) Magnets
The student will predict and describe how a magnet can be used to push or pull an object.

(1.6C) Location of Objects
The student will describe the change in the location of an object such as closer to, nearer to, and farther from.

(1.6D) Movement and Motion
The students will demonstrate and record the ways that objects can move such as in a straight line, zig zag, up and down, back and forth, round and round, and fast and slow.
