Overview
Through observation and investigation, students learn about how plants’ physical characteristics and animals’ behaviors and physical characteristics help them to meet their basic needs. Students also learn about insects’ life cycles and stages.

(2.10A) Characteristics and Behaviors of Animals
The student is expected to observe, record, and compare how the physical characteristics and behaviors of animals help them meet their basic needs, such as fins help fish move and balance in the water.

(2.10B) Characteristics of Plants
The student is expected to observe, record, and compare how the physical characteristics of plants help them meet their basic needs such as stems carry water throughout the plant.

(2.10C) Unique Aspects of Insect Life Cycles
The student is expected to investigate and record some of the unique stages that insects undergo during their life cycle.
