(3.8) Patterns in Natural Systems
Overview
By observing weather changes, students recognize patterns and cycles in weather information. They also understand the relationship between the Sun, Earth, and Moon, as well as the planets that make up the solar system.
-
(3.8A) Weather
The student is expected to observe, measure, record, and compare day-to-day weather changes in different locations at the same time that include air temperature, wind direction, and precipitation.
-
(3.8B) Sun
The student is expected to describe the Sun as a star composed of gases that provides light and heat energy for the water cycle.
-
(3.8C) Sun, Earth and Moon
The student is expected to construct models that demonstrate the relationship of the Sun, Earth, and Moon, including orbits and positions.
-
(3.8D) Solar System
The student is expected to identify the planets in Earth’s solar system and their position in relation to the Sun.
