(4.6) Force, Motion and Energy
Overview
By fourth grade, students are ready to learn that energy exists in many forms, including mechanical, sound, electrical, light, and heat/thermal. They begin in-depth explorations of electricity, such as building electrical circuits, and they learn about conductors and insulators. Students also design an experiment to test the effect of a force on an object.
-
(4.6A) Forms of Energy
The student is expected to differentiate among forms of energy, including mechanical, sound, electrical, light, and heat/thermal.
-
(4.6B) Conductors and Insulators
The student is expected to differentiate between conductors and insulators.
-
(4.6C) Flow of Electricity in Circuits
The student is expected to demonstrate that electricity travels in a closed path, creating an electrical circuit, and explore an electromagnetic field.
-
(4.6D) Effects of Forces on an Object
The student is expected to design an experiment to test the effect of force on an object such as a push or a pull, gravity, friction, or magnetism.
