Assessment Ideas

Create a mixture of ½ teaspoon of ground, black pepper and water in a clear cup. Ask students to write a paragraph explaining whether the mixture represents a solution. [It is not a solution, because the materials are not mixed at the molecular level. It is a heterogeneous mixture.]
