Overview
The student is expected to identify the basic needs of plants and animals.

Plant Needs
Plants need light energy, water and carbon dioxide from air for photosynthesis. They also need additional nutrients for their growth and survival. Through looking at plants in various conditions. students explore how the presence or absence of these basic needs affect plants’ growth.

Animal Needs
Students learn and identify that animals need air, water, food and a place to be by observing and comparing candy “gummy worms” to live worms, and building worm habitats.
