(1.10D) Life Cycle of Animals
Overview
The student is expected to observe and record life cycles of animals such as a chicken, frog, or fish.
-
Bird Life Cycle (Chicken)
Most students are familiar with eggs as food, but they probably have less knowledge about the life cycles of birds, such as chickens. Click here for strategies on teaching bird life cycles, including live web cams that allow students to observe nesting birds and fledglings in real time (see Extensions).
-
Frog Life Cycle
Frogs and toads provide great examples of amphibian development. The frog life cycle is mentioned explicitly in the TEKS for grade one.
-
Fish Life Cycle
Provide your students with opportunities to learn about the growth and development of a variety of organisms. Resources for teaching about fish life cycles are provided here.
